Mozambique has safari parks developing to rival the country's now very sophisticated beach offerings.
Not only has Nkwichi Lodge recently graced the cover of National Geographic Traveller magazine it has also received a score of 90% in a recent evaluation by 'Green Safari Africa', making it one of one of only 3 other lodges on the sub-continent to achieve this.
When most people think of tourism, they think about a vacation to a new destination, an island retreat, a beautiful vineyard, or a hike in the mountains. They rarely think of tourism as a source of inclusive poverty reduction in the developing world.

In the article Nkwichi receives copious amounts of praise and compliments, with the word 'Heaven' being used to describe the lodge and its surroundings.
It's a little-known destination. But those who find their way there are rewarded with a plethora of treasures - water and forest, exciting horizons, fearless wildlife, and the knowledge that their visit contributes to the wellbeing of the 20 000-strong local community.
