For international guests we recommend that you obtain a Mozambique visa before you depart your home country. It is possible to get the visa at Cobue upon arrival...but we advise that you arrange to have your visa before you leave home to avoid disappointment.

You should always travel with soft bags not hard suitcases so that bags can fit into small aircraft. If you are using a small plane at ANY point getting to or from Nkwichi Lodge then your bags should not exceed 12kg per person.

Jan / April:
Green season. It often rains during the day in the afternoon with dramatic storms over the lake. Temperatures vary depending on the level of the rains but there can be humid periods.April / May:
Potential rain storms around. Warm/hot. The bush is very green, grass long.June / July:
Mid winter. Cool/Warm during day. Migratory birds leave.
Bush drying out. Most days with clear air and fabulous colours.
August:
Varies from cool to hot. Can still have cold spells.
Bush dry.
September:
Hot, dry and hazy. Trees flower and lose leaves.
October:
Very dry with the occasional rain when it can cool down and clear the air. Can be very hot (up to 40 degrees in the shade).
Nov / Dec:
Hot, slightly humid. Early rains, vary from the odd shower to short periods of daily afternoon storms. These can be very dramatic with wind, dark clouds, shafts of light, sheet lightening.
Bush green and fresh. The migrant birds arrive and so excellent bird watching.
